moved to off-topic. choose the right forum next time! /DC This has absolutely nothing to do with CS2D
How stupid are you? bThre are off-topic threads for a reason!! Switch Sound File Converter is even better but isn't freeware. Audacity, as you can see, comes highly recommended. It has third-party plugins for many, many audio formats as well I hate Audacity
Use Soundwav or something , it's cheaper and less annoying i use goldwave its really good Goldwave's a little on the downside , but overall it's still a good choice Wriggle has written

Cheaper? Audacity is free. I don't know where you got it, but its free on their site. Nope , i don't mean the price , i mean that using the thing is cheaper and doesn't need an hour of figuring shit out It took, me olny a few minits to figure out. Audacity is so much better. That, and due to it being open-source, there are a lot more plugins for it then proprietary audio editors.
And, personally, Audacity's interface is so simple a baby could use it. I mean, all the buttons that you absolutely must have are HUGE. Audacity is fine for file manipulation, but it was mainly designed for editing tracks, not just simply converting.
A really good free converter is BonkEnc which is a batch music converter with functions for extracting files from CDs, getting album data from freeDB and a simplified user interface but with all the control over the encoders. And to take it one step further, the PortableApps guys made it completely portable, so you can download the archive, extract and run it directly from the folder. No installation necessary.

Don't forget to download the MP3 plugin. (Link copied from the "features" section of the BonkEnc Portable page. Again, all nicely packaged on their site and hosted on FOSS central "sourceforge").
I believe there is a free alternative to any paid for software out there... I haven't been proved wrong yet...
