I started it for over 3 years.
City has a lot of road,light,sign,Market,advertising,subway,hotel,shops....City is not a island.everything is on the sea.. I made it over 4 month.
ancient world has a lot of island...you can see my introduce.maby I will add more man-made island...
heaven island has 17 different place...I designed it over a month discuss with my friends...
Mars World ...and I want to design a time door to connect in the future's[Space Centry]I made those by myself...so just like you,I also like 100%percent freedom too...that is why this is slow...

you need 8GB RAM

I would understand the bunch of models used in this mod but requiring 8 GB of RAM to play this sounds too crazy for me. Nobody would play the mod since not many of us have high-end PCs, at least I don't. You should really focus on mod optimisation.

The mod looks great nevertheless and I imagine how amount of work you put on this. IMHO, judging by the screenshots it might take days to explore all the areas and stuff. I'd be looking forward for new updates of this project if you consider what I've said above.

@user GeoB99: I think that "8GB" of RAM is not needed because game wont use that much anyway. Even 1GB of vRam is not needed, game wont use more than 256MB of it anyway. He just put that to make it feel more beffy

8GB RAM =380 RMB. it is very cheap...better than 4GB RAM .sometimes 4 GB RAM computer uses 60% RAM, but 8GB RAM usually uses 21% RAM.
and actually my game has a lot of model together some models are big size over 1 MB! some advertising textures are BMP pictures and ferrari ...if pc has 4 GB ,must be slowly....and cannot play maybe says [memory access valasion]...higher RAM is better!My pc has 16GB RAM[2*8GB].
It is very slow when the game loads
2000 object.inf,
200units.inf.,
1000items.inf waiting for 3 minutes will be OK.
the limit is 5000 object 500 units and 5000 items

@user baidigang: DDR2, DDR3, DDR4?
Textures are stored in vRAM.
Use most overhauled map and type commands "memory" and "tris" or "3d" in console and post here results. You can post s2.exe memory ussage from taskmanager aswell.

Which game version are you using? (engine sided, modded or the vanilla Gold one)
BlitzBasic is very old, and it results in lags and slow perfomance, doesn't matter RAM and VRAM size

must be Stranded2 engine....blitz....
Blitz engine loads so many ***.inf will use a lot of RAM. If I can use 4 GB RAM PC to make my mod,Why do I buy a 8GB RAM?

and Do you know ***.S2 is 680kb??
color game.s2 is just 94kb

i have been doing this mod all the time....i said something is right...
some City location can't find when I see the map,.because they are on the sea. first floor is subway,second floor is city ....
and something like a tower with thounsands steps and God Stadium they are in the sky....I really put my all the time in it...
@user Jawohl:
@user xsiN:
The aircraft carrier.....B2 F-16 F-22 F-35 J-31 J-20

No, you don't know how ram works.
Weird 12GB usage O.o Your mod and models are overhauling engine and that cause lags, doesn't matter how much ram you have and how fast CPU, Blitz is very old and have limits, do not try to make us belive that we "need" such a powerfull parts, cuz it's useless.

Optimize your mod first. You can use s2 cmd def_extend for objects, units etc. that will make saves and maps weight less and improve performace (you can CHECK Blocky Stranded for example)

@user baidigang: Use s2 cmd loadmap and s2 cmd savemap for this. Make sure to set the right parameters to 1 so save/take over these things as well! Also helpful: s2 cmd loadmaptakeover and also s2 cmd fileexists to check if a certain map file exists for loading.

Attention: When saving maps via script, make sure to use a new name! Otherwise you will overwrite the original map files!

Assassin,
I had that issue when I first dove into massive mod, when the player entered the mine. I do not remember exactly what I did to fix it, but I have some remembrance of two possible things I did to fix.

1) When your mod loads if your player max weight is loaded at like 20k with on:load, but your saved character has increased his carry weight during the game play...when the new map loads at your 20k max weight, stuff is lost cuz the weights to low, not allowing you to carry what you tried to save. . .not enough room so-to-speak.

so you'd might have to save your player max weight and load it as the new max weight to the new map...on:load?

2) Or I may have used a loop and counted all the items in the players inventory and assigned a variable or something to the ID of the found items the player is currently carrying. (global variable)

then after the player spawned in the new map (on: create), a script would call those variables as n ID and put them back in the players inventory.

-------------
something like that...i don't have that mine script anymore
