@user DC: XML version still uses plain text file transfer.
If plain text starts with xml tag, it displays it as xml.
Plain text has line length limit, that's where the issue is.

Though, people can use the workaround to minimize line length with xml code.

@user SQ: That makes the file incredibly confusing and ugly.

The limit should be different for XML files (unlimited).
Plus, lines don't wrap for XML text, which is also annoying.

I just downloaded CS2D in ZIP file and when I enter servers that have downloads, it seems that it successfully downloads them, but when I exit the server and enter again, the downloads appear again ... neither the gfx nor the sfx are downloaded, only the maps ... I already tried changing the download method but it still doesn't work.

I do not know if it will be an error or not, but just in case I report it

@user SQ: Ah, I see.
@user Mami Tomoe: The limit has technical reasons and changing it would be a bigger task. I probably won't do it because it's not super important. Keeping the server info short is way to go. It's better anyway. That way more people will read it.

@user j0kER aR: Weird. Did you try any other server?
I did not change anything related to file transfers so it's surprising that it doesn't work anymore for you.

Can anyone else confirm that problem?

@user DC: The problem is no line wrapping alongside the lack of long line support.

Thw both of them combined make for a horrible experience when trying to use the XML feature, it's really annoying.

Also, as of right now, some servers do rely on fairly long server information files.

For example, licenses, credits, rules, ETC..

Wouldn't it just be easier to add an if statement to check if the file is XML or not in order to apply the line limitation?

No, like explained before this is a technical limitation related to the data transfer and it is the same technical limitation for plain text and XML. It can't be removed easily without breaking stuff.

It happens to me on all servers, it is not able to save any image or sound, nor does it load the serverinfo.txt ... and i do not think it is a PC problem since with version 1.0.1.1 the download continues to work correctly.
I will try installing cs2d, because i can't update CS2D from auto-update either

edit:
I just installed CS2D.exe and the downloads are working correctly... I guess the problem is the portable CS2D

On the server stalker for version 1.0.1.1 had 50-55 tps with 6 players.
Now, on version 1.0.1.2 we have 30-45 tps and constant crashes of CS2D, the game just hangs tightly after a random period of time and all players crash.. Why?

I can report experiencing none of the above with hosting servers or simply playing.

@user j0kER aR: That's super weird. Portable version and installer contain the same CS2D.exe file. Maybe a setting was wrong for some reason. Glad to hear that it works now!

@user _Lima_: I don't think it's related to the update. Or in other words: I would have no idea what in the update could cause such problems. Makes no sense to me.

Maybe some drivers changed and cause problems. Or the server changed something. I have no idea.

@user DanelSonic123:
That's nothing new or special. You can ignore it. Just add an exception for CS2D so it doesn't get detected. I also recommend to stick with MS security essentials (integrated in Windows) and to get rid of any extra anti virus software because most of those programs are bad and cost too much system performance.

It's funny that it thinks the Steam version is safe because it's exactly the same binary file for Steam and Non-Steam.

"Heuristic" means that code was detected which is similar to code that was found in malicious programs. This does not necessarily mean that the program is bad. It's just POSSIBLE that it's MAYBE bad.

Unfortunately you get a lot of false positives with anti virus software. Especially when you enable heuristic search. Multiplayer games need networking and most games also need file system access. This makes them suspicious already for most anti virus software.

I can only tell you that CS2D is no virus and no malware.
Just make sure to always load it either via Steam or directly from www.CS2D.com!

I agree with user DC + my little advice for the future: if you're not sure if a file is clear or not, you can scan it using Virus Total.

It's a website that lets you scan files online with many different antiviruses all at once. If most of the engines detect nothing, you can be quite sure (not for 100% though) that file is fine.

Note: remember not to upload files with sensitive information (personal data for instance) because uploaded files can be shared with the community for futher analysis.
