Hello there. Well without any more useless chit-chat, let's head to the point of this thread. I want to build a PC, my own PC. This is the first time I want to build a PC. I don't know about PC building, at all. But I have researched my chosen components about a few days to match on each other requirements. Here are the components:

CPU: AMD Athlon X4 860K - Quad-Core 3.7 GHz
Motherboard: ASRock FM2A68M-HD+
GPU: HIS Radeon HD R9 270X - ICEQ X2 TURBO 2GB DDR5
Memory: Team Xtreme Dark TDD38G1600HC9DC01 - 2x4GB DDR3
HDD: Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003 - 1TB
PSU: Enermax NAXN ENP500AGT - 500W

I know the components are pretty weak but I have to select them because I have limited budget. I hope these components can run recent games on medium-low settings. The questions are, are all of them compatible on each other? Will the GPU bottleneck the CPU? Is the PSU enough to supply the components? Does the motherboard support the components?

About the GPU, are you planning to go 1080p or will stay on 720p ? If 720p I'd go with a cheaper R7 260X.
The CPU is quite fine but I think that a FX6300 (along a m5a970 evo and an aftermarket cooler and some overclocking) would be better (if you're going 1080p).
I'm not sure about Enermax PSU's but be aware. The PSU must be reliable otherwise you can get serious problems and heavily affect the rest of the system.

You can also spend a little more for Thermaltake Smart SE Modular 530W (SPS-530MPCBEU)


Your specified motherboard contains only 2 RAM slots!

You picked 4x2GB modules which cannot be instaled on it physicaly. Try to search for 2x4GB modules, 1600Mhz spped should be fine with CL9.

Here is my proposition for ram:
Crucial Ballistix 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600MHz CL9

@user Dousea: If you're staying with the 270X, yeah, you will be able to 1080p at medium-high settings in most games.

However I'd get 2x4GB Gskill Ripjaws RAM (running at 1600Mhz and CL9) as it's cheap and good.

500W should be enough, since you're probably not stressing the CPU and GPU to the max at the same time. If you plan to overclock the videocard, you should consider a better PSU with a higher wattage.

I just checked if the components are compatible. Not sure if this is the best bang for buck you're gonna get.

Case: Fractal Design Core 1000 USB 3.0
Case Fan: Fractal Design R2 12.0 CM and Fractal Design R2 9.2 CM
DVD RW: Asus DVD RW 24X OEM

I know the case is really bad but it's cheap and it fulfills what I really need. There're 1 x USB 3.0 and 1 x USB 2.0 on the front interface. There're 2 x 3.5" HDD slots and I'm planning to buy 2 Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003 HDDs. There're 2 x ODD slots and I only need one of them because I want to insert the Asus DVD RW 24X OEM on one of the ODD slots if that's okay. There're 2 x unused fan slots and I want to insert the Fractal Design R2 9.2 CM and 12.0 CM. Now, are the components compatible on each other?

Well, if you still unsure about your build, I recommend you to use http://pcpartpicker.com. It is a pretty nice and useful website that helps you building your PC correctly (it checks compability and similar stuff). You can use filters to define a price range and that.
