Off Topic MC server hosting MC server hosting
13 replies So guys im considering to host minecraft 24/7 server (not cs2d related) can anyone give me info about prices, ping, which software is used, how all that stuff works...? @ Cure Pikachu: that just might be a thing i was searching for, thank you verry much! nitrado.net is also a very good hosting service for minecraft. (I dont have experience with others tho)
Anyway, you could host your own as well @ Bowlinghead: that nitrado site offers even better deals, and if i read this correctly, i can order server for like 4-5 euros from them?
What kind of speed can i expect?
And just for note, i dont plan to host for hundreds of players, just a cupple of buddies so we can build stuff we like... Actually Im running a server over my PC, its very good as far as my people tell.
I cant tell how nitrado is now, but back in the days were I rented a server there were no lag whatsoever (beta, normal survival). @ Bowlinghead: Allright, sounds good anyways, thanks for the info! This may not be related to the topic, but may i please ask you why you want to host a minecraft server? @ abc123: I once heard Minecraft server hosters are making easy money. @ Masea: dont know about that, @ abc123: but i wanna play on private server with friends with no lags Based on my experience it will not last longer than a month (or 2 at most).
You're from Croatia, I'm sure you could host the server yourselves (through Hamachi?). The server needs 500-800mb RAM for 4-5 players, min. 200 KB/s upload, 400 KB/s is better. @ VADemon: we've been playing on abandoned server for 1 year or more
But thanks for you data, and hamachi proved to be verry laggy, at least in my experience. Cuz we have players from all places from europe (not more than 8 tho) I really don't know why u would play minecraft. @ Bowlinghead: ive started to use nitrado as you suggested, and its better than i expected, id just use this oporunity to thank you once again
