Masea: To put it simply, everything goes to shit. After a while you need more voltage to achieve the same frequency and it heats up easier (not a problem if you have decent cooling) so at best, your electricity cost is increasing. If you don't want to do that, your pc will be slower OR you'll have to switch for a new processor. If you can afford it, it's fine. Gamers usually upgrade for better gear periodically anyways.Now keep in mind, I do not know the scale of these things but they definitely happen. Especially if you fiddle with it (like overclocking for instance).
So then comes the question - you could have this and full performance or you could not have this and the same performance so why do it?
TL;DR wear and tear fucks up everything everywhere and makes shit less efficient. CPUs are not an exception.
