Freezes after loading any island and a crash
1 reply I have trouble starting the game on Windows 11. I can get to main menu, but choosing any island the game just freeze. Not on loading screen but in-game where I can see the player character looking (or the camera is facing) at sea.
Of course I enabled compatibility mode. I tried with both Window XP service packs, with Windows Vista mode. And knowing Windows 98/ Windows ME wouldn't work I found it says something about memory. Maybe something about too much memory.
With in-game option at first I tried with highest settings, then didn't work out, then changed to lower settings, the same things happens.
About compatibility mode I tried running it in 640 x 480 resolution, disabling fullscreen optimizations and run the program as an administration. And it still was the same.
By the way when pressing alt and tab the game gets closed, or it crashes. DC Admin

You can try to go to the install folder and run "StrandedII -win.bat" to make it run in a Window. Sometimes that works better than running it full screen.
Also in compatibility mode the best resolution is probably 800x600 if you can choose that. It's the default resolution of the game. 640x480 is too small.
Another "hack" you can try is editing mods/Stranded II/sys/settings.cfg and changing the first lines (800 and 600) to the desired resolution (first width then height). Afterwards try to run the game. But keep in mind that UI won't scale with higher resolutions and is optimized for 800x600 so you shouldn't go too high.
