@user DC: no, I didn't actually mean that. The normal Lua are just the lua sources provided from www.lua.org (CS2D uses them, so I say that any program that parses Lua with the official version of Lua is just fine, even with SciTE or Notepad++ ), Stranded III uses a rewritten from scratch-version of Lua (UniLua), both different parsers. I tried to load UniLua from the code editor, but since C# is strict, there are some functionalities that are not supported. May I ask how you installed it? I couldn't find a proper tutorial to do that.

i just realized i haven't asked this yet, but have been wondering for a while:

obviously the game world is going for a mostly realistic, with slight cartoonish style on the side, what about character design?

is it going for realistic characters and animals to match the scenery, or go for an art style much like stranded 2 (which il admit i never really was into.)

although id prefer to hear your going for a realistic look, but it is your game after all.

@user Jawohl: I looked into the model editor and the screenshots they gave looks amazing, these models are truly from high quality. Therefore only skilled modellers will be able to do that, because, as you know, it will eventually be hard to use the editor if the models are from high quality, however the animations should also be acceptable.

@user Sparty: No, I'm actually talking about blender, I went to their page and I just liked the models they show on their screenshots. Blender is supposed to be the editor we're going to use for S3.

The editor doesn't have that much to do with the final quality of the models. Some movies use blender for their models, and those models are super high-quality. But there are also a lot of bad models done in blender. The software is not the deciding factor, the skill of the person who uses it is.
As an analogy, there are people who are able to paint the mona lisa in Microsoft Paint. I wouldn't even be able to do that in Photoshop or GIMP.

edit: Also, as far as I remember at least some of the stranded 2 mods used blender as their editor.

I'm not very experienced in 3D modelling. I did all the Stranded I and II models but that's basically it. And all those models are very low poly.

So Stranded III won't have ultra realistic models for 3 reasons:
• I'm not experienced enough
• It would take forever
• I prefer drawing textures myself instead of using photo textures

Most of you will now probably think something like "let others do it". The problems with this are:
• One single person probably won't create all the models I need for free
• Paying a person to create so many models would be far too expensive
• Letting multiple different people work on it would lead to different styles and they wouldn't fit together

@user DC: you could certainly pick what you like from the File Archive, just as you did with Fapicon's map on CS2D. But that's probably not going to happen in a lot of time until people learns how to use Blender, anyway, would Stranded III support Blender models from any quality? (Even from the highest quality as possible)

it doesn't necessarily have to be blender though, i personally have 4 years experience with Google Sketchup, although quite a simple program, it does have its charm with architectures

heres an example on what i can do, if you care

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLtjAZJgcs1oE8zuhSPMt7MEEjCTvZMq7g

the first few videos were just me placing already built models
better to start on episode 3.

-anyway as i was saying, blender isnt the only software that can make some good games and movies.

@user DC: for what its worth, if you need similar building style, i could design the majority of architecture, being my biggest skill in modelling.

EDIT:
i have experience in making saxon/tudor-like houses, and i want to tell you how they could fit into Stranded 3 nicely:

@user Jawohl: Buildings, items and plants are relatively easy to make. I can create those myself and as I said: I can't simply mix styles because it looks stupid. Humans and animals are the complicated part.

Every dev post makes me feel a bit more like a child the day before christmas

Same here.

So far so good, the icons feel a bit too bright and colorful for me but I take it that it'll be possible to change them (right..?)
