I just thought I would let everybody know (in case you didn't already hear), there has been an 8.9 earthquake in Japan, which created a large tsunami. Warnings have been sent out to all the areas around Japan, going as far as Hawaii. If you know anybody who lives there, let them know as soon as possible! In about an hour the waves are going to hit the beach.

Tokyo (CNN) -- An 8.9-magnitude earthquake hit northern Japan on Friday, triggering tsunamis and sending a massive body of water filled with debris that included boats and houses inching toward highways.

The epicenter was 373 kilometers (231 miles) away from the capital, Tokyo, the United States Geological Survey said. But residents there felt the tremors.

The quake rattled buildings and toppled cars off bridges and into waters underneath. Waves of debris flowed like lava across farmland, pushing boats, houses and trailers toward highways.

Hawaii, Russia and Taiwan threatened by tsunami

It caused a power outage in about 4 million homes in Tokyo and surrounding areas.
A tsunami in the Pacific was moving closer to other shorelines in other countries, said CNN meteorologist Ivan Cabrera.
It triggered tsunami warnings for various countries, including Japan and Russia, the National Weather Service said.
"Earthquakes of this size are known to generate tsunamis potentially dangerous to coasts outside the source region," it said.

"Based on all available data a tsunami may have been generated by this earthquake that could be destructive on coastal areas even far from the epicenter."

The quake was the latest in a series in the region this week.
Early Thursday, an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.3 struck off the coast of Honshu.

A day earlier, a 7.2-magnitude earthquake struck off of Honshu, the country's meteorological agency said.
The largest recorded quake took place in Chile on May 22, 1960, with a magnitude of 9.5, the USGS said.

CNN's Kyung Lah contributed to this report.

Due to this, I can't contact with a friend since this morning dammit.
By the way, you can watch live broadcasting about this: http://www.youtube.com/aljazeeraenglish?feature=ticker

@Freeman, just fallow the news... It seems you don't watch it.
It's not like there will be more of tsunamis, but as you should know, the same tsunami strikes few times and each time feedback is stronger.

They are all in the same area, lol. It's called 'Australasia', incase your rather tunnel-vision style brain doesn't know that already.

lol i would not pray to japan even if it was the last place on earth... i mean face it they live on a freaking small island... they build houses on houses... the make awesome technology and they cant even make some more land for their islands? I just love the 10 feet tall tsunami... (i dont want to sound rasistic or anything) but who cares? Where are still living arent we? so what a couple of people die and the some people make such a big deal out of it...

*soon their is gonna be Chernobyl #2* (lets hope not) although japan did once survive a nuke from america... so whats keeping them from surviving a typical situation like in Chernobyl

In russia 2 suicide bombers bombed a subway where many people died... they talked about that for 2 days then they forgot about it
sometime later another suicide attack was made in an airport... no one died but they talked about it for weeks...

It went past Hawaii, it made a small tsunami over here in Oregon. That's over 4800 miles.

Guys, it looks like an Super Armageddon.

First of all, the earthquake triggered a Tsunami, which will kill people and destory Cities in Hawaii, Australia and the West Coast of the US.
The earthquake already killed 300 People in Japan, the Tsunami will kill people, too.
At the West Coast of Japan, there is Nuclear Power Station, which will explode, its just an Armageddon for Japan, because many people will be killed by the Radiation of the Nuclear Power Station.

Just horrible.. Many people will die, just of 1 Earthquake.

That's such a disaster... I`ve seen those videos and I was like Woah! What a mess! Huge ships, cars and other trash are just floating through the city, destroying bridges and buildings on their way. I guess its gonna take them forever to clean up all that mess, re-build everything and return to normal life.

They haven't made anything yet. All they do is purchasing technologies.
