Off Topic why is technology so slow?~Likely Solutions~
~Internet provider is slow.
~The server hosting the webserver or files is slow.
~Many people are using the network.
~You live far away from the host. Example: UnrealSoftware.de is hosted from a company in Germany, (Cant remember there name) but I live right on the border of Canada/USA.
It takes usually 3-4 seconds for me to connect to this site.
But I were to try and connect to Google Canada or something It would be alot faster.
--Hope This is specific enough for you.
And its not Bill Gates.
there are so many bottlenecks and so much time where hardware is idle.

if you buy 6mb the people should give you 6mb/s of download.
Have you ever realised that they don't capatalise the b in Mb when you rent your line? That is because it is BITS per second, not BYTES. 6Mega bits is roughly 750 Kilo Bytes, so there is your internet connection solved.
And yeah, my computer doesn't take 20 seconds to boot, it takes longer. When you are loading a very large kernel into your RAM it takes time! People can only develop things so fast, ya know?
if they were, then there better be Flying skateboards and time-traveling cars four years later(Backtothefuturereferencek)

Do you think we are Bill Gates?
Tom Yates. Close enough, wait a few years
The only way for large software developers to keep alive is through unfair competition - Microsoft with their monopoly on office and incompatibility with everything (even with its own products :S), Google blocking other advertisers, Apple preventing the development of apps on other OS's than their own. Therefore, software developers invest a lot of time in trying to break that monopoly, so they don't have time to actually come up with something good.
Apple is deliberately slowing down development of the iPad for more profit (instead of releasing the real stuff right away, they release a few versions in between so people keep buying new ones).
I forgot the point I wanted to come to, so this is sort of an unfinished, unstructured post. Sorry...
the thing is called "Evolution"

you are joking? computers and the internet are one of the fastest evolving things ever. the WWW is less than 20 years old. the growth is insane. I'm not sure if this thread is hilarious or pathetic. you simply ignore all the insane developments just because your connection is slow and your PC needs 20 secs to boot.. learn how that stuff works and you'll never create a thread like this one again.

it's 2011 already. why does it take longer than 3 seconds for webpages to load?
not for me (normally)
if it takes longer for you: because it's expensive to put fast and enough wires into the ground... it's all about money.

why do computers start up in like 20 seconds? why is everyone still using microsoftshit?
because they need to load tons of drivers and an OS is huge and very complex program. you would shit your pants if you would know what's going on there.
also: microsoft is awesome. not another OS flamewar please.
btw: they promise a few secs for booting with win 8

1. The internet company NEVER gives the exact speed that you are paying for.
2. The internet WILL be slow when everyone and their dog is on it at the same time.
3. Invest more than $600 in a computer. Being cheap on the gaming PC is good and bad. Some games now a days require expensive graphics cards and good cpus.
4. Don't run useless or needless programs! Having more programs that 'start up' when the computer turns on make the computer take an extra 3 seconds (roughly). I think that Steam or Messenger can wait a minuit and you can open it manually.
And DC, its going to be Windows 10. They decided to skip 8 and 9.
I have a Reformated computer with absolute nothing on it, and it starts up before you even knew it, and this one computer i am using, with almost all GB's used up, and it takes years to start up, i've timed, it took 3 minutes 52 seconds 33 milliseconds

If you have like 50 programs set to launch when you turn on the computer, that defiantly makes the start up longer, which also ties into how much crap you have.Computer startup time doesn't depend on programs that start up on launch, rather, it's the amount of bullshit you installed on it
How much junk doesn't always effect how fast your computer starts. Take my laptop. I only have about 5 GB of memory left out of 50 (I have the Orange Box and Crysis installed, alone with all my audio software and graphic software and all my resources for working on my game) and it only takes 9 seconds to start. The only programs that I have launch at start is Kaspersky, Virtual Clone Drive, and my wireless.
