For two weeks I was making my own tf2 mod and make a lot - totally new HUD, new weapons, achievements system, cp_ and koth_ game modes but... I suddenly understood that tf2d is something that is not too creative and interesting to spend free time on it but I still feel like want to create something great and make cs2d looks like something totally fresh and new, like something we didn't see before.
cs2d mods in majority changes the game appearance or adds something like classes system or an RPG part, but there are only few mods that are trying to change the game itself, turn it into something except just killing enemies from another team and planting the bomb or taking the flag and so on. There are some good mods that make cs2d looks like adventure game were you have to explore, survive or complete quests, there are interesting jail and citylife mods and I like them all, because they changes the game sense and goals. But I'm trying to create something totally new.
I have some ideas but they are rough and incomplete, but maybe it is something interesting in them. For example I thought about a game for 6 or 8 players where every player would have his own unique castle and there would be dungeons and ruins on the map defended by monsters. in one of them would be a hidden artifact or a treasure so the hero that found it have to defend his castle for 5 (or 3/7/10) minutes to win the round, while other players have to use their power to siege the castle and take the artifact. Add a little RPG element and features like crafting, digging and some spells and we would have a multiplayer game with its own unique rules, rounds about 30 minutes duration and interesting gameplay.
the players connected when the game had already started would became spectators and have to wait until the round ends
or another one - some pirate theme, where you have to became the most powerful pirate all over the sea. add here seabattles, ability to explore islands and ports, trade and train your team, upgrade your ship and we would have another interesting game. but, you see, the goals are unclear and it is hard to imagine how to play it multiplayer and how to make it fast to play (because it looks like MMORPG)

or something like colonization of faraway planets with interesting forms of life and surrealistic landscapes, were players would became a settlers that have to make experiments and risk their lives while trying to find out the properties of every plant or fruit and face such problems as defending from wild animals and aggressive forms of live, finding food, developing the settlement and so on. the main idea is that all players would not kill each other for score but would work together as one good team to survive in such unfriendly surroundings.
so you see, we really can make something interesting. maybe you have your own ideas or want to add something to mine? I think it is necessary to celarly understand what you want to do and how it would work before starting to script. I created this thread to find some interesting ideas or to develop mine with your help and then start to make it myself or maybe with help of users thet like the ideas too.
