GeoB99 Is the server colocated somewhere or do you have it on your person? i have this server... (its on my home ) Judging by the service manual, the server has the option to have a DVD drive. If it has a DVD drive, get your hands on a Windows Server 2008 R2 ISO, burn it to a DVD and install it. If it doesn't have a DVD drive, you are in for a difficult ride.
I know only three options if you don't have the DVD drive: booting via USB (unlikely to work), booting via PXE (also unlikely to work, and fucking difficult to set up if you aren't experienced) or installing onto the drive from another machine that supports SCSI and has DVD/USB/PXE (I can't guarentee this will work since I've never done it with Windows Server).
Good luck. Can't he just launch a upgrade setup from the existing installation? @ DannyDeth: Any reason for the USB method not work ? I've used this method various times to install OSses onto my PC.
Anyways if you're willing to go through this method, get Rufus, it is a free utility that helps you flashing bootable USB pen drives. Then get a working copy of windows server in the .iso format and use Rufus to flash that image into the USB pen drive. Then you just have to set your BIOS to boot from the USB and install it. Im sure there is detailed tutorials about it just google "How to install windows from an USB"
