Most of you probably don't know much about me. I was pretty active in the CS2D scene between 2006 and 2011. For the old guards of the game, some of you may recognize me as one of the leaders of [TGV] before it went inactive in 2012. For others, I'm that eccentric guy who wrote a bunch of Lua before going off the deep end mumbling about abstract mathematics. For DC, I was the persistently annoying kid who spammed links to (the now defunct) http://tgvserver.info waaay too much.
My time with this game has long passed, as has my involvement with this community. But the impressions that CS2D, UnrealSoftware, and the wider community has left behind will stay with me forever. I wouldn't be where I am today without this forum, and I would've never suspected how life-changing this game has been to me.
I was in middle school when I played this game for the first time. Back then, we didn't have a computer. I would go to the library everyday after school for an hour or two to play. Being the new kid at the time, CS2D was basically my only social outlet at the time.
With time, our family finally had the means to afford computers, internet, and the whole she-bang. Playing on CS2D, reverse engineering 3rr0r's server, developing tools and frameworks for the game, building up a clan... Those were the things that defined my teenage life.
The lessons that this game has taught me throughout the years have shaped me significantly in the last decade or so. It defined my undergraduate major, it helped me land my first internship, then it helped me land my first professional job. I've used the same experiences that I've developed working with this game and this community to do my actual job. Seriously, without you guys, I would've probably lived a completely different life than the one that I am leading today.
Today, I'm a software engineer at Google. It's been a long journey between the little middle-schooler of ten years ago and who I am today. However, some of my most significant life events along that route (college, research, engineer @ FB, Pokemon Go, engineer @ Google) have been directly impacted by the things that I've learned and the friends that I've made through this very community.
I know that people may dismiss indie games like CS2D on a first glance, but I truly want to express my sincerest gratitude. Don't underestimate it. Very few things in my life has had such a profound and everlasting effect on me as you guys have. Thanks for the wonderful times, and all the best for the future to come. Very good story, I really liked the way you expressed yourself, In life everything is possible with effort and bravery, I do not know you but as you show all this in words the truth is very emotional. very good words brother, I hope you enjoy life as it has to be done, and if they have a dream they go forward to be able to fulfill it.
I with this game I am very grateful, I learned a lot from this game, and also make new friends with which to enjoy the game is even better. This game has offered me a gateaway from my problems, I am also thankful to it and it's creator.
Furthermore I am really impressed that you've achieved to be a software engineer at Google, it must have been a hard path throughout the years congrats on being a software engineer on google Lee, now could you start banning people here now DC Admin Offline
Hi Lee! Wow, I'm glad to hear that you're a software engineer at Google now. Quite impressive!
Thank you for sharing your story here. CS2D and this community might have shaped you but you also helped to shape CS2D and the community with your contributions. So: Thank you very much for all the time you spent here and for all the stuff you did and contributed Is this a goodbye Lee:? I heard that at Google you get to spent some work-time on non-work related interests. So this post is basically your reincarnation into CS2D? I just wowed mate From us.de to Google, way the fucking go! Hell yeah.
From the my side, I also need to thank this community too, and especially the creator, DC. This game(CS2D) can be seen as only mini game from others but it changed my freaking entire life... Everything has been started with my low spec PC(768MB RAM XD). I was looking only for low spec games and one day I found this, like 6-7 years ago. I played it, found it really cute, liked the pixel things much more and so on. Learnt to skin, map and code. Met with other people from other countries. Improved my english and still I need to thus I do. My attitude changed, my writing style either... yeah I know this is hard to believe but all of these happened just fucking here!
And looks like it's also about all other people who visit this forum much, they improve themselves too. Oh man. This is amazing platform. Really dude, thanks all of you i cry remembering old times with my friends You re welcome Lee, good forum full of good users will be always an internet-home for you.
I think a lot of people learned smth useful during playing cs2d. You are a great example Lee, I'm happy for your present. Dear Lee.
Although I'm not registered in that period of time, you were talking about.
